10-band Audio Equalizer
Personal project to design a 10-band passive graphic equalizer to be used with my stereo system.
Goal: Design and fabricate a graphic equalizer with 10 bands of frequency modulation.
Scope: The equalizer will be designed from the ground up, including both mechanical and electrical components. A custom PCB will be designed to allow potentiometers to adjust the signal coming from the audio source.
Constraints:
The enclosure will be 3D printed to keep costs low for prototyping purposes.
The PCB will be designed using KiCad, an open source software. This will be the largest hurdle since I have not yet designed a PCB in my career.
Use off-the-shelf electrical components to receive and modulate the audio signal.
I recently began putting together a home audio system for listening to music and watching movies. I wanted a method to adjust certain audio frequencies depending on the media I was listening to. After some research, I began working on a 10-band graphic equalizer to install into my system.
I have completed a prototype design of the enclosure and necessary switches and connectors. I am currently working on learning about the KiCad software so that I can design the PCB and have it manufactured.
